How to convert Markdown to a Word documentReal Word formatting, not a picture of the text
Many converters give you a document where everything is one big block, or an image of the page. This one writes proper Word structure: # headings become Heading 1 to Heading 6 styles (so Word's navigation pane and table of contents work), bullet and numbered lists become real lists with working numbering, links become clickable hyperlinks, code blocks use a shaded Code style, block quotes get an indented bar and tables become Word tables with a header row.
The file is a standard .docx created in your browser. It opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer and Apple Pages. Text in every language is stored as Unicode.
How to copy an AI answer into Word
Chat assistants write their answers in Markdown. If you paste such an answer directly into Word you often get stray symbols such as **, ## and |---|. Copy the answer, paste it into this page and download the .docx: the symbols turn into real formatting. When you copy from a chat window, use the assistant's own copy button if it has one, because it copies the Markdown source instead of the rendered text.
For the details of that workflow, including what to do with tables and code, read the guide linked above.
Supported syntax and limits
Supported: headings, bold, italic, strikethrough, nested ordered and unordered lists, task lists (shown as ☐ and ☑), links, inline code, fenced code blocks, block quotes, horizontal rules and tables with alignment. Not supported: images (the alt text is written instead, because the page never loads files from other sites), raw HTML (shown as plain text), maths and syntax colouring in code.
If you only need to read or print the result, Markdown to PDF is quicker. For text without Markdown, use Text to Word.
Privacy
The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your text is not uploaded, stored or logged, and it is gone when you close the page.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert Markdown to Word?
Paste the Markdown into the box, check the preview, choose a font and page size and press Download Word file (.docx). Open it in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.
Are the headings real Word headings?
Yes. They use Word's built-in Heading 1 to 6 styles, so the navigation pane, table of contents and style changes all work.
Can I convert a ChatGPT answer to Word?
Yes. Copy the answer (ideally with the copy button, which keeps the Markdown), paste it here and download the .docx. Headings, lists, tables and code blocks become Word formatting.
Do tables and code blocks work?
Yes. Tables become Word tables with a shaded header row and the alignment you set, and code blocks are shown in a monospace font on a shaded background.
Why are images not included?
The converter never downloads images from other sites, to protect your privacy. The image's alt text is written in its place; you can insert the picture in Word afterwards.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The document is built in your browser and saved straight to your device.
