How to convert Markdown to PDF
02

Markdown in, formatted PDF out

Markdown is the plain-text way of writing headings, bold text, lists and links, used by README files, notes apps, documentation and AI chat answers. This page reads your Markdown, shows how it will look and saves it as a clean PDF: headings become headings, lists keep their numbers and bullets, code goes into shaded blocks, and tables get borders.

As with the text to PDF page, the PDF is made by your browser's print function, so it uses the fonts on your device and every language prints correctly. Nothing is uploaded.

03

Supported Markdown

The converter understands the common GitHub-style Markdown: headings (# to ######), bold, italic and strikethrough, ordered and unordered lists with nesting, task lists (- [x]), links, inline code, fenced code blocks, block quotes, horizontal rules and tables with left, centred or right alignment.

Some things are intentionally left out. Raw HTML in your text is shown as plain text instead of being run, links that do not start with http, https or mailto are shown without the link, and images are replaced by their alt text, because the page never loads anything from other sites. Maths notation and syntax colouring for code are not included.

04

Good uses for Markdown to PDF

Turn a README or documentation page into a PDF to share with someone who does not use GitHub. Save an AI chat answer as a tidy document: copy the answer, paste it here and the headings and lists carry over. Make meeting notes, a one-page CV or a checklist from the notes you already write in Markdown. If someone needs to edit the result, use Markdown to Word instead.

05

Your text stays with you

The Markdown is processed in your browser. It is not sent to a server, and the preview and PDF are created on your device. Closing or refreshing the page clears it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert Markdown to PDF?

Paste the Markdown into the box, check the preview, press Save as PDF and choose Save as PDF in the print window that opens. The PDF is created on your device.

Is the Markdown uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs in your browser, including the preview. We never receive your text.

Which Markdown features are supported?

Headings, bold, italic, strikethrough, nested ordered and unordered lists, task lists, links, inline code, fenced code blocks, block quotes, horizontal rules and tables. Raw HTML, images and maths are not rendered.

Why are my images missing?

The converter never loads images from other sites, to keep your document private and the page fast. The image's alt text is shown in its place.

Can I convert a ChatGPT or other AI answer to PDF?

Yes. AI answers are written in Markdown, so copy the answer, paste it here and save the PDF. The headings, lists, code blocks and tables are kept.

Does it work in other languages?

Yes. The PDF uses your device's fonts, so Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, Thai, Arabic, Cyrillic and other scripts print normally.
